Children’s Hospital Broadside Project

Since 2011, a group of about 20 letterpress printers from the School of Visual Concepts community gather together each Spring to read poems written by pediatric patients of Seattle Children’s Hospital. We each select a poem to design and print which ultimately becomes part of a bound portfolio presented to each poet and their family. This portfolio of broadsides celebrates the partnership of the School of Visual Concepts, Seattle Arts & Lectures' Writers in the Schools Program, and Seattle Children's Hospital, empowering pediatric patients with guidance from poets Sierra Nelson and Ann Teplick. This collection of poems has been displayed throughout the city at libraries and the Seattle Art Museum. I have been honored to be part of this meaningful project from the beginning.
